Light, Joy & Color

reflection.jpg

I do not want to bring tension or misery into the world with serious art. Instead, I focus on the light and joy we all want. I see this in how dogs interact with all kinds of creatures. I use color and place to try to convey their passion for living. It makes no difference what the dogs look like. It is just as important to a dog to sniff something as it is to run and play. They reflect life, and how we all co-exist. Dogs teach us to live with joy in the moment.

About Me

Robert Martin Tarr

The work I am doing now started to pour out one day when I was driving home from the city. I saw Dexter Lake and pulled into the parking lot. Nobody was there, except a flock of geese. I saw the beautiful rhythm in their necks and in the way they walked. I jumped back into my car, raced home, and made a quick sketch. I painted the first painting I felt was any good. I called it Dexter Lake. From there, my work has evolved to the utopian landscapes and city scenes I paint today.
